South Athens is changing dynamically and the so-called \u201cGrand Riviera\u201d is shaping a new reality for the entire coastal front of Attica. In this great transition, our Municipalities must be present in order to demand, plan and ensure that development will go hand in hand with the quality of life of the residents.<\/p>\n
For Palaio Faliro, a modern and people-centred city, the coastal front is an integral part of its identity and, above all, it is part of the everyday life of the people of Faliro. That is why our main priority is to maintain an open and accessible public space, with respect for the environment and the needs of the citizens. In recent years, we have been moving forward with interventions that enhance greenery, accessibility, cleanliness, sports and cultural infrastructure.<\/p>\n
At the same time, with the renovation of Flisvos, our iconic Round Pavilion, we are returning a timeless jewel to the coastal front and to Palaio Faliro, with renewed spaces open to all. At the same time, the climate crisis has set as our first priority the need to protect our coastal front. All of this requires modern planning, close cooperation among the Municipalities and with all the competent bodies. We are, therefore, planning the transition of our city to a more resilient and environmentally responsible development model.<\/p>\n
The new prospects in connection with the Athens Riviera can be a great opportunity for Palaio Faliro and the Southern Suburbs, as long as the development remains people-centred and with a positive footprint for everyone. Our cities must evolve without losing their character – without moving away from the needs of their residents and from the elements that make them stand out.<\/p>\n
This is the role of Local Government today – to shape cities that are modern, sustainable and open to all.<\/p>\n
