The regeneration of the coastal front and the emblematic investment in Hellinikon are radically redefining the identity of South Athens. In this new era, the Local Government and the neighboring municipalities cannot be mere observers. On the contrary, they must have a leading and substantial role, both in strategic planning and in the implementation of major infrastructure projects, ensuring the balanced development of the entire region.<\/p>\n
A typical example is the Municipality of Agios Dimitrios. Although it does not have a coastal front and, thus, does not directly enjoy the privileges of the Athens Riviera, it is the main road connection with Hellinikon. This entails a huge traffic burden for our city. To address it, there is an urgent need for a special provision for decongestion, with the creation of modern pedestrian bridges and infrastructure that will guarantee road safety and the quality of life of the residents.<\/p>\n
At the same time, our Municipality is already planning important projects, with the aim of transforming itself into an attractive cultural and recreational stop, integrating the dynamics of broader development. At the heart of this vision is the need to highlight the Pikrodafni Stream as an integral part of the new Riviera. An ecosystem that, from a point of \u201crisk for flooding phenomena\u201d, will be transformed into a model green space. With absolute respect for the natural landscape and urban biodiversity, its regeneration will bridge the urban environment with nature, essentially uniting the mountain with the sea.<\/p>\n
The Grand Riviera will be successful only if it functions as a catalyst for overall development and prosperity. The Local Government has the knowledge and will to guarantee that the new identity of the Southern Suburbs will include every neighborhood, in terms of sustainability and social cohesion.<\/p>\n
