The beach is calling, but no swim is complete without a quality cup of coffee and a light baguette—something filling but not heavy enough to slow you down in the water. These are the essential pit stops to make before the beach, for the must-have pre-swim refuel.

Paul, Glyfada

Paul in Glyfada is the perfect stop before the beach for those who appreciate quality in every choice. The coffee is made from 100% Arabica beans certified by the Rainforest Alliance and stands out for its clean taste and rich aroma.

Complete the experience with one of Paul’s delicious sandwiches: from the distinctively named SW savoureux (which in French means “tasty,” “delicious”), with rosette salami, pickles, and butter, to the SW curcuma poulet with chicken, guanciale, lettuce, and mayonnaise on turmeric bread, or the SW nordique au thon with tuna, cucumber, lettuce, and mayo on malted multigrain bread. All sandwiches are made with freshly baked bread and high-quality ingredients. That’s the only rule—everything else is up to you, with countless combinations available.

That is, of course, if you can resist the traditional quiche lorraine or the crispy palmier with caramelized sugar. Oh mon Dieu, as the French would say.

Ipirotissa, Voula

The minimal and carefully designed coffee & sandwich spot inside Ipirotissa in Voula is the perfect pit stop on your way to the beach. Here, you’ll find delicious deli sandwiches with fluffy bread and fresh ingredients of your choice.

At the same time, the skilled baristas prepare expertly crafted coffee using the globally recognized Italian espresso Tonino Lamborghini. They’ll happily share the secrets of perfect coffee preparation and suggest various snack pairings for your drink.

Subito, Glyfada

You simply can’t leave Subito without one of their incredible panini (or more than one). You’ll find a wide selection, and you can even create your own with ingredients from their available range. The result? One of the freshest, tastiest panini you’ll ever try.

The ingredients are wrapped in soft, homemade bread—white or whole wheat panini, multigrain sourdough, or slow-fermented ciabatta—and the options are endless: from those with prosciutto, bresaola, or mortadella (note: all cheeses and cold cuts are freshly sliced), to vegetarian versions with roasted zucchini and anthotyro cheese, or with taramosalata, Florina pepper, and basil pesto.

Coffee Academy, various locations across the south

At Coffee Academy, you know you’ll get a good coffee—this is the brand that taught locals to stop by one of its shops for a take-away brew made on a signature, handcrafted Dutch Spirit machine.

But there’s more: you’ll also find a variety of snacks, from handmade granola bars and cinnamon rolls to hearty sandwiches made with different types of bread. Try the focaccia with prosciutto, mozzarella, rocket, and basil pesto, or pick one of the mini sandwiches made with square buns—smaller in size but packed with flavor, they’re perfect for breakfast or a light meal.

Yum Guilt Free, Glyfada

We still love Yum Guilt Free for its healthy desserts, but ever since it expanded its menu to include a wide range of savory options, we find ourselves going back even more often. We grab our coffee to go and pair it with snacks that are essentially complete meals—all curated by a nutritionist, as the concept remains focused on health and dietary awareness.

Mini salmon sandwich on carob bread, multigrain “Greek” baguette, or sandwich with chicken and smoked Vermio cheese are just some of the options, along with various versions of gluten-free tortillas.
